NatraSweet - Premium Pelletized Lime
Everyone wants a healthy attractive yard. This doesn’t happen by accident and making sure your soil is ready to perform is one of the first steps.
Acid soils are commonly referred to as “sour”, the pH of these soils range from 4.0 to 6.0. Soils near neutral are known as “sweet” and range from 6.5 to 7.0 pH.
Acid soils do not allow essential nutrients to be available to plants. Since less nutrients are naturally available to plants, more fertilizer has to be applied. Bringing soils into the “sweet” range will allow plants access to naturally available nutrients, reducing the need for additional fertilizers.
Most lawn grasses perform best at a reaction between pH 6.5 and pH 7.0. Liming is an important part of a turf management program
Rain naturally leaches calcium from the soil that creates an acid soil condition which restricts growth of turf. Over application of fertilizers also contributes to acid soils. NatraSweet should not be applied unless a soil test indicates that it's needed. Too much NatraSweet can reduce plant growth in the same way as too little.
What is NatraSweet?
NatraSweet is a natural, chemical free, nearly pure liming material for use on lawns, gardens and
trees. NatraSweet is derived from 98% pure calcium carbonate that is finely ground and then pelletized for maximum effectiveness and ease of application. NatraSweet will make acid soils neutral, giving plants, turf and trees a healthy environment to thrive. NatraSweet also adds calcium to the soil, a vital nutrient needed to make plants healthy and happy.
How NatraSweet Works
In acid soils, nutrients needed by the plant for growth are unavailable. By applying NatraSweet and thereby neutralizing the soil acidity, nutrients are made available to the plants…it’s that simple.
NatraSweet will:
• Eliminate soil acidity
• Supply calcium, an important plant nutrient
• Reduce the need for additional fertilizers, by promoting the availability of soil phosphorus, zinc, and copper.
• Promote a healthy lush lawn
• Promote thatch and residue breakdown
When to apply NatraSweet
Soil samples should be obtained before any lime or fertilizer application.
Once it is determined that your soil has low pH, NatraSweet can be applied any time. If a soil test in the spring indicates lime is needed, apply it at once. NatraSweet begins to react immediately and reduces acidity and improves turf growth throughout the summer and fall.
NatraSweet is safe to use! It is non-toxic to humans, and pets, doesn’t burn grass and will not cause pollution problems!
How Much NatraSweet to Apply
The amount of NatraSweet required will vary with the degree of acidity and the soil type. A soil sample is the best way to determine how much NatraSweet should be applied.
RECOMMENDATIONS
After testing the soil for pH apply NatraSweet as follows:
| SOIL pH | RANGE | RATE |
|---|---|---|
| 6.5 to 7.0 | Optimum | Up to 12 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft.* |
| 6.0 to 6.5 | Mildly Acidic | 12-25 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft.* |
| 5.5 to 6.0 | Moderately Acidic | 25-50 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft.* |
| 5.0 to 5.5 | Severely Acidic | Visit our website for pH information |
| Lower than 5.0 | Critically Acidic | Visit our website for pH information |
* Lower rates are for light, sandy soils. High rates are for heavy, clay soils.

How Often is NatraSweet Needed?
Soils tend to revert to their natural acidity levels, and most nitrogen fertilizers used on lawns are acid-forming, gradually decreasing the soil pH. Yearly soil sampling will help you determine when to reapply NatraSweet.
In most cases once you have “Sweetened” you soil, you should be able to keep it “sweet” with 10 lbs per 1000 sq feet per year.
If you use high rates of nitrogen or are in a high rainfall area it may take more NatraSweet to keep soil “sweet”.
Yearly soil sampling is the best way to determine when NatraSweet should be reapplied.
Applying NatraSweet
NatraSweet is easy to apply with either a drop spreader or a spinner spreader. Uniform coverage is important with lime since it essentially stays where it is put. Since NatraSweet is pelletized it
spreads evenly with no dust, drift, or mess.
To ensure even coverage, one half of the lime should be applied in one direction, and the remainder applied in a perpendicular (crisscross) pattern.

Take care to avoid acid loving plants, azaleas, rhododendrons, and blueberries. These plants flourish in acid soil!
